dejà vu

Today we have the new OCZ Dominatrix on the slab, ready for a bit of rough and tumble. Many of our loyal readers will have an un-nerving sense of dejà vu as this mouse looks pretty much identical to the Cybersnipa I reviewed not too long ago. Well, in truth they appear to be the same mouse chassis with a few tweaks to the aesthetics.

Now we will find out just how different they are in the details. The OCZ edition has opted for the blue rubberised grip which is a solid choice as I like the rubber on this grip; it's a soft and silky silicon feel but it doesn't leave your hand sweating and struggling for grip.

The 4 way scroll is solid and there is no risk of surfing sideways while you cruise around online. The wheel itself is a grippy rubber with just the right amount of resistance to stop you accidently scrolling when you middle click.

The usual macro buttons and adjustments are present, with the two forward and back buttons on the side which don't get in the way at all. The macro button lets you surf through three macro pre-sets on the mouse and the buttons in-built tri-colour LED pulses soothingly on and off to let you know which mode you are in.

Adjusting the DPI through the menu system is easy, allowing you to allocate four DPI pre-sets all the way from 400 to 3200 as well as letting you scale the x and y values independently for each pre-set. The pre-set mode is indicated by the tri-colour LED illuminating the mouse wheel (a nice touch that shows some refreshing ingenuity) with the first preset not illuminating the button, leaving the three colours for the other three pre-sets.
