Introduction

Seagate is a company many people will know as producing hard drives and one of the companies who helped bring the first SATA standard to the market along with Intel. Seagate has been producing internal hard drives for the past 25 years but has only recently started to attack the market with consumer level products.

Seagate has decided to get in on the action with products catering for users with portable storage needs. Over the past few years we've seen the influx of portable storage devices such as pen drives which many of couldn't do without in our day to day lives. Who doesn't want 1 and 0's in their pocket for convenience?

Seagate has heated up the competition with a USB 2.0 5GB pocket drive which at first sight looks more like a yoyo and a monster 400GB external drive supporting USB 2.0 and Firewire with push button backup.

Read on as we take a close look at both products and then put them through their paces and see just how they perform against other portable and non-portable storage devices we had sitting around in our labs.
