Dell Inspiron Mini 9 specs and pricing revealed

By: (more) | Posted: Sep 4, 2008 3:20 am

The folks over at UMPC Portal managed to get hold of a leaked Dell flyer which lists the very soon-to-be-released Inspiron Mini 9 netbook which is designed to go right up against the ASUS Eee PC and MSI Wind netbooks and the 5000 others on the market.

The flyer confirms that each model will get a 9" screen and weigh in at around 2.28 pounds or about 1kg.

If the leaked flyer is correct, you'll be able to pick up a "Standard Edition" Inspiron Mini 9 for the starting price of $349 USD. For that you get a netbook with an Intel Atom N270 processor, 512MB memory, 4GB SSD, 802.11g wireless, but no web cam and you can choose between black or white colors.

Moving on up we come to the "Social Edition" which is the same as the model just spoke about but with the inclusion of 0.3MP web cam and a larger 8GB SSD - it will set you back $399 USD. Both come with Ubuntu Linux 8.04 pre-installed. And the top dog is the "XP Edition" which comes with Windows XP SP3 pre-installed on its 8GB SSD, includes 1GB of memory and it will cost you $449 USD at the launch promo rate but normally it costs $494 USD.

UPDATE - Just as this story was published, Dell has started listing its Inspiron Mini 9 on its website for sale. Here and here.
