The HD 4550, which is claimed to be guided by a shrink of the RV730 GPU that fuels the HD 46xx family, will feature 80 shaders and be comprised of 242 million transistors.

From a technological viewpoint, it is believed that the RV710 houses 8 Texture Address Units, together with 8 Texture Filter Units and, has a 64-bit memory interface. Clock speeds are expected to come in at 600 MHz and 800 MHz for the core and memory, respectively.

A 512 MB SKU, priced at roughly $49-59, together with a 256 MB part which will have not only a low profile, but a low price of $39 to $49 too, shall tackle NVIDIA's GeForce 9400GT apparently.

Indications of a possible launch time frame are unclear, at the time of going to press.
