Browse any website in 3D? Yeah! WTF?

By: (more) | Internet & Websites News | Posted: Sep 18, 2008 5:25 am

A Melbourne-based software developer called ExitReality has created what they are calling the world's first 3D browser.

Browse any website in 3D? Yeah, really WTF?

After you install the 4MB plug-in software that works in IE or Firefox, you simply visit the ExitReality website and type in a web address and within a minute or so, you can walk around that website in 3D. No kidding - this is for real!

While we haven't tried it much yet, it's a little hard to see the point of it. You can create special MySpace profiles which convert the 3D profile into an apartment - same with Facebook and others.

If you walk through TweakTown in 3D, it just looks like an empty hall with a bunch of links to reviews. While we couldn't get YouTube working in 3D, apparently each video is setup like a movie theater.

Maybe it's a little bit of fun but we can't really see it taking off. If you are interested, head on over to the ExitReality website.
