AMD Mobility HD 4xxx offering out in the wild

Nearly two months ago, we talked about the progress being made by AMD to bring its highly acclaimed HD 4xxx series on to a mobile level.

A highlight of AMD's presence at the CEATEC 2008 event in Japan has most likely been the showing of a demo system, powered by an AMD Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx offering. The cooling solution, in itself, is quite a sight and leads to supposition that the part on display is a Mobility Radeon HD 4850.

Featuring a 55nm GPU, codenamed either M96 (HD 46xx) or M98 (HD 48xx), it is unknown as to when the company will offer a launch date or availability information, yet there is clearly anticipation and demand from end-users for the HD 4xxx family to reach into the mobile world.
