By: (more) | Posted: Nov 13, 2008 6:14 pm

AMD HD 46xx and HD 48xx users, shall be able to take advantage of the company's venture into GPGPU, according to this report from TechConnect Magazine.

AMD challenges NVIDIA's CUDA

Launching next month, as part of AMD's Catalyst 8.12 software package, ATI Stream will facilitate the use of Stream Processors, in a GPGPU environment.

From software such as the ATI Avivo Video Converter Utility, to applications from the likes of Cyberlink, ATI Stream will allow demanding computer tasks to harness the power of AMD's HD46/48xx SKUs.

Rival NVIDIA, has spent a great deal of resources and time on its own CUDA initiative and, AMD's move will undoubtedly level the playing field, that little bit more.
