ASUS now powering Eee Box with Celeron CPUs

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Dec 3, 2008 7:28 am

Nettops are a great design for portable, efficient computing and prices are pretty good for what they are as well. But many who have used one will agree they are severely underpowered for anything but the most basic of tasks.

As Intel's little Atom is the main culprit of this and due to sales figures not looking too crash hot from ASUS' perspective across its Eee PC line, the company has decided to see how a more powerful Celeron 220 equipped Eee Box will go in the market.

They also plan to up the HDD space from 80GB to 120GB for further freedom whilst dropping the overall pricing on the model over existing Atom-powered Eee Box's to see if it helps spark some more interest and increase shipments before the year's out. So I assume these Celeron Eee Box's should be available any time now, given the year's almost at a close.
