Intel's next-gen Atom platform will be 32nm based

By: (more) | Posted: Dec 8, 2008 11:47 am

The folks at the Inquirer have spotted some interesting information about Intel's next-gen Atom successor which we now know to be codenamed "Medfield". Due sometime during the second half of 2010, it is reported that the chip will be Lincroft's successor, designed around a 32nm manu. process.

Unlike the Moorestown and current Menlow platforms, however, Medfield will not comprise a seperate CPU + chipset arrangement and will in fact be an all-in-one design/SoC design.

Other points of interest about the upcoming platform include its two graphics options; one comes with ultra power efficient handheld level graphics whilst another variant will include more powerful netbook graphics, but it is not yet known what specific GPUs will be used.

You can read a little bit more about it here.
