AMD's Athlon X2 'Kuma' CPU test results

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Dec 9, 2008 3:03 am

AMD's 65nm dual-core K10 parts (codenamed Kuma) are almost ready for launch and Donanim Haber has decided to get the early jump on an Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition sample paired up with Foxconn's A7DA-S (AMD 790 GX + SB750) motherboard.

The X2 7750 used for these tests has a stock clockspeed of 2.7GHz on the HT3.0 interface with 512kb of L2 cache on each core along with a shared L3 cache of 2MB. Donim directly compares it to the likes of various Core 2 Duo processors as well as a Phenom X3 8750 and older Athlon X2 5200+ (Brisbane) CPU to give one a good idea of what's on tap with Kuma.

Tests ran include 3DMark06 (CPU test), CINEBENCH 10 x64, wPrime 32m and Fritz Chess. They also pumped the X2 7750 up to 3.1GHz (no doubt it has more in it) and ran the same tests to see how big the gains were.

The site is Turkish (I think) but the graphs reflecting test results speak for themselves. As for pricing and availability on these upcoming X2 7000 series Kuma chips, we'll know definitive details come launch day which is just around the corner.
