Nokia Announces HSPA 3G USB Modem

The Mobile market has become the mainstream over the last two years. Many people only use a notebook for work school and even gaming.

 

But with this new and increasing market comes the need to "on-the-go" connectivity. For most this connectivity is found in Sierra of Novatel PCMCIA, Express 54 and 32 cards and of course the ever popular USB stick.

 

Nokia, once the defacto leader in wireless communication has now entered this market. Their new product (Most likely to be named the CS-10) will work on the HSPA 3G Network and should have download speeds in excess of 7 Mbps.

Nokia Announces HSPA 3G USB Modem

Nokia has confirmed that it plans to begin shipping a USB HSPA modem in early 2009, presumably the CS-10 Internet Stick model that it launched at the beginning of December. According to the company's VP of hardware platform components, Nokia's experience in developing 3G chipsets and related technologies will stand them in good stead to take on segment-leader Huawei Technologies, the OEM behind many of the USB modems currently on the market.
