2 Terabyte WD Caviar drive spotted

By: (more) | Posted: Dec 17, 2008 5:46 am

It's been discovered that a Czech website is now listing a whopping 2TB Caviar series HDD (Part no. WD20EADS) from Western Digital, but don't get too excited just yet as they're currently showing none in stock. But this gives indication it may not be long before WD officially introduces the monster drive into the market.

What can be assumed of this Caviar Green WD20EADS series 7200RPM drive is that it'll likely be a four-platter unit housing 500GB/platter, but it would be nice to think WD is also working on a three-platter (666GB/platter) variant as well.

The Czech Computer website is currently listing the drive at 5,943 Kc (Czech koruna) before VAT which works out to around $324 USD.
