NVIDIA MCP79 Pico ITX Atom platform pictured

We recently reported that NVIDIA plans to support Intel's Atom with special variants of their MCP7A and MCP79 Pico-ITX chipsets, but at the time there was very little to go off other than the characteristics of these chipsets in existing form.

VR-Zone has come back with the real goodies this time, providing a bunch of images of an NVIDIA reference designed nettop platform which is based upon the MCP79 Pico-ITX chipset for Atom.

OEM makers will be allowed to produce their own chassis and board designs so it will be interesting to see how companies like ASUS and MSI incorporate the platform into their Eee Box/Top and Wind NetBOX systems.

This chipset is single chip package and contains MCH, GPU and ICH functionalities so as to remove the needs for cables and offer more IO capabilities than the current Pico standard. This nettop has a 10-layer Pico ITX based motherboard that supports single core Atom 230 or dual core Atom 330, one SO-DIMM slot single channel for DDR3-800/1066/1333 memory, one DVI-I, Gigabit LAN, one USB 2.0 port and one SATA port.
