New ASUS EeePC w/ faster Atom CPU at CES
At CES ASUS showcased a new model EeePC dubbed the 1004DN which was said to feature Intel's own GN40 chipset and a yet to be officially released Atom N280 processor. As the N270 is currently selling, it's expected the N280 will be a higher clocked 45-nm variant, somewhere around the ballpark of 1.86GHz.

Another interesting feature of the 1004DN is that an optical SATA DVD writer drive can be installed which is a first for ASUS' EeePC lineup.
Tech Connect reports that ASUS are apparently restricting this specific model to the European market (or at least for a while following its launch) and an availability/launch date hasn't yet been disclosed.
