Samsung has dropped a 1.5 TB EcoGreen F2 drive on to the market. This means they have finally caught up to Seagate in terms of capacity.
The new EcoGreen line will is trying to strike a balance between performance and power.
To do this Samsung has slowed down the spindle speed to 5400RPM, while tossing in 32MB of Fast Cache. Even with the slower spindle speed average seek is at a decent 8.9ms.
The drive should hit the stores in Japan over the weekend and retail for about $130.
