When you go all out and get a performance rig, it seems like a simple task to just put everything together, and start enjoying the goodness of your new powerhouse. But there are a lot of simple tweaks that can be done to your system to make it run not only faster, but with more stability as well. Game Forces has put together a little article that covers some of these tweaks that help you out in their latest piece entitled "Tweaking Game Performance v2.0". "With newer builds of Windows such as Windows 98/Me and Windows 95 OSR2, you can enable direct memory access (DMA) for your hard drive by following these steps. But be careful to confirm that your hard drive supports DMA before you proceed with this. Turning it on without support for DMA can cause severe problems -- or so I'm told. Most 5400 and 7200 RPM hard drives from 6GB and up support DMA."
