Phenom II X3 720 BE taken to 4.3GHz on Air!

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Feb 19, 2009 2:38 pm

It seems someone managed to get a new Phenom X3 720 BE (unlocked) to hit 4.3GHz on nothing but air.

The person responsible (known as chew* on the Xtremesystems forum) managed to get to 4.2GHz with a 21x Multi and with 1.65v pumping into the CPU, a few posts later he gets a prime stable speed of 3.6GHz with 1.44v.

The big news is the 4.3GHz Air Suicide run he got followed by a whopping
5.0GHz (200x25) and a 4.7GHz SuperPi Stable OC (200x23 1.776v)shown in the You Tube video below.

It looks like the new Phenom II X3 720BE will be the CPU of choice for many overclockers, I am not sure how it will stand up at gaming running these high speeds but it is nice to see the extra headroom.
