Intel Demos 32nm Clarkdale Samples

By: (more) | Posted: Feb 25, 2009 4:01 am

Intel has posted a video showing off the Clarkdale CPU with integrated GPU, or iGFX as Intel calls it.

It is already known that the Clarkdale chips will be a dual core proc with hyper-threading. What's new is that we now have an estimate on how much power it will consume.

The video shows a Clarkdale system running and using about 65W of power. Not only is this number coming from the chip being under load, but it is for the entire system.

Moving the GPU to the processor means that the entire motherboard can be simplified, thus the low power consumption for an entire system.

Clarkdale and its mobile brethren Arrandale is expected to be available Q4 this year, while the high-end six-core Gulftown is expected in the first half of 2010.
