Some OEMs not going to work with ION yet

By: (more) | Posted: Mar 3, 2009 7:28 pm

Something very thought provoking just popped up on Fudzilla. It seems that Fudo has been asking some questions about the ION and nVidia's claim of adoption by major OEMs/VARs.

Well if you read between the lines it would seem that two very large netbook makers are not interested in the ION right now. According to Fudo's story the netbook market segment is not interested in gaming but are looking for a small portable system for work and internet surfing.

It will be interesting to see how the cards land in a few months.

Some OEMs not going to work with ION yet

We are talking about two top Taiwanese companies who are very famous for their netbooks, or should we call them Winds and Eee PCs of the world.

The main reason might be Intel, and the fact that you don't want to do much gaming on a 10-inch screen anyway. The fear is that loosing Intel's love in 2009 might be particularly nasty divorce.

An alternative is that people who should know things don't know about some super secretive development projects, and that small teams are indeed doing Ion behind very secretive closed doors, but this is one big if.
