Acer to be first with an Ion System

Well looks like Acer is going to be the first out of the gate with an Ion system.

 

At least that is what Fudo from Fudzilla is saying. The Ion does represent a problem for manufacturers. It is evident that Intel does not like the Ion platform and would like its partners to not use it.

 

The partners would like to use it for the possibility of gaming enabled nettops and netbooks. So the question is; do you make Intel or nVidia angry?

Acer to be first with an Ion System

Acer is the first one to leak its Ion design and we´ve heard that people like Zotac might have a reference nettop design out at some point. They are not alone, there will be more of them.

 

Our well informed sources have confirmed that the first Ion designs should be out in Q2 2009, while others will follow in Q3. Everyone making Atom based systems is interested, but it looks like that most OEMs want to see what happens to the first one that brings the design out.
