AMD Phenom II X4 955 Confirmed
Yesterday we told you about an AMD Engineering Sample that was spotted on the test bench. It has now been confirmed that the chip is indeed the Phenom II X4 955 and will be AMD's new flagship CPU.
The chip will also be a Black Edition CPU, shipping with an unlocked multiplier. As the ES chip was able to go to 4.0GHz on air with nothing special, the X4 955 should be quite a hit with overclockers.
The Phenom II X4 955 will have a clock speeed of 3.0GHz, an 8MB L2 cache, dual channel DDR2/3 support, and a TDP of 125W. It is said that AMD will charge more than 200 Euro for the chip, which should come as no surprise as it will be the flagship.
Rouding out the new information on the Phenom II X4 955 processor is that the CPU will be released on April 20th.
