Despite the announcement of an Acer ION packing device other nVidia partners are not rushing to put out ION systems.

From what we are hearing from Digitimes the partners are waiting for the prices on ION to drop. Not an easy task for nVidia to do as they are making very little of the ION platform, as such they do not have much room to move in term of price and still make any money.

As it stands right now Atom + GM945 is still much less expensive than ION and despite the performance differences price it what is motivating the market right now.

But if Acer finds success and Nvidia is able to lower the price of Ion by 20-30%, the vendors are expected to adopt the platform.

Nvidia's Ion platform chipsets are priced from US$26-46 based on their performance level. Intel has a bundling strategy with its Atom platform that reduces the average sales price of the related chipsets.
