Is nVidia's 40nm having Problems?

For some reason nVidia is having problems with its 40nm process. Well potentially having problems. Despite AMD releasing a 40nm Mobile part and the impending release of a 40nm desktop part nVidia has not announced one of their own.

Although they are telling their partners that 40nm is coming, it does not seem to even be breathing hard yet. Typically nVidia follows AMD/ATi on die shrinks but not by that much. It is possible that some other factor is keeping the 40nm parts off the table

Partner are told that the new 40nm thing is coming and we expect that the first chip is entry level, but at this point, partners are told that G94 and G96 chips are the ones that Nvidia has in the lower segment.

This segment covers cards that are selling from €35 to €70 and includes Geforce 9400GT, 9500GT and 9600GT. We have to admit that so far both 9500 and 9600 were quite successful, but their time will pass as soon as ATI's RV740 hits the market.
