Windows 7 System Requirements Finalized

By: (more) | Software News | Posted: May 4, 2009 7:24 am

With RC1 for Windows 7 just around the corner, Microsoft has finally decided on what the system requirements will be when it goes gold.

Little has changed since the requirements listed for the beta, with most of the changes affecting those planning on going with the 64-bit OS. Both 32-bit and 64-bit will require a 1GHz or faster processor and a DX9 video card with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher.

Compatible with Windows 7 logo

Requirements for storage and memory vary slightly between 32-bit and 64-bit versions. 32-bit Windows will require 16GB of storage space and 1GB of memory, while the 64-bit variant will need 20GB of storage and 2GB of memory. None of these requirements should be an issue for most PC's built in the last few years.

Microsoft has also released the official "Compatible with Windows 7" logo. While the criteria that will specify what is "compatible" isn't said, you can bet that it will be similar to the above specifications.
