Psystar Mobile OS X Solution In The Works

By: (more) | Posted: May 8, 2009 4:30 am

Mac clone maker Psystar is still fighting tooth and nail with Apple over offering OS X on non-Apple machines. This doesn't seem to be slowing down Psystar however, as the company has now revealed that they are working on a mobile Mac computer.

The news comes after one of Macrumors' readers asked Psystar if they planned on introducing a Mac OS X netbook in the future. Psystar didn't specify whether they were working on a netbook or notebook, but left it open for speculation.

An OS X netbook would fill a void that Apple has to this point refused to consider, as apple feels they aren't worth of the Apple brand. Psystar would be able to hit a grand slam with an OS X powered netbook, grabbing those in search of a mobile OS X solution without the steep fees that Apple reaps from the MacBook.

For the last year, Apple has been saying it will not be producing an Apple branded netbook. Whether it was Steve Jobs saying the company "didn't know how to make a sub-$500 computer that wasn't a piece of junk" or Tim Cook calling netbooks junky trinkets that "didn't deserve the Apple brand," the message was loud and clear: No Apple netbook.
