Corsair Launches 256GB High Perf. SSD

Corsair has announced its latest addition to the SSD market, the Storage Solutions P256 high-performance 256GB solid-state drive.

 

The new drive utilizes speciall selected Samsung MLC flash memory and is backed by a Samsung controller as well. Topping it all off is 128MB of super-fast cache and NCQ for sppedy, stutter-free performance.

Corsair says the P256 SSD delivers read speeds of up to 220MB/sec and write speeds of up to 200MB/sec. The bump up to 256GB allows for plenty of storage space for even the enthusiast to utilize as the main drive in almost any PC.

 

The Corsair P256 drive can be found at a few etailers and a quick search shows that it can be found for around US$660. Corsair is backing the drive with a two year warranty.

 

The Corsair Storage Solutions P256 delivers the best computing experience of any single storage drive available today," said John Beekley, VP of Applications Engineering at Corsair, "Using the P256 results in immediate and dramatic improvements in system startup and shutdown, game level loading, application startup, and many other everyday tasks. Additionally, the P256 is more durable and reliable than hard disk drives, and has been shown in the Corsair Labs to provide up to 25% longer battery life in portable computers.
