Intel keynote sheds light on forthcoming products

Computex Taipei 2009: Intel hosted its keynote address in the Planetary hall over at the TICC building, the same place it has held the event for the past 5 years.

First we were greeted with Mr Walter Yeh, the executive for TAITRA. After his introduction of Computex and Taiwan it was over to a short PR video for Intel and then to Sean Maloney who emphasized that Intel has now shipped 1 billion units and also stated that the next billion is what Intel is aiming for even in this economic crisis, while also complimenting Taiwan for its ability to continue pushing forward with innovation and growth.

Intel is also looking at stimulating the desktop platform through new innovative designs, new products and new technologies such as all-in-one PC's, HDMI, Nehalem and of course Windows 7. HDMI was one of the biggest things Intel focused on which has managed to revolutionise HD connectivity.

Of course Intel couldn't go without mentioning its current pride and joy, Nehalem, and its current support as well as the future support. Further to this, Intel showed off the new Lynnfield based desktop running Windows 7. while running demos of the 32nm processor Intel showed how well the new turbo binning would work.

Pressing along pretty quickly with a demo of the Lynnfield desktop, it was onto accelerating the mobile momentum. Mo li was introduced on stage to explain some of the new advancements in mobile form; the Montevina platform which supports a 3.06GHz CPU in the mobile segment without increasing power consumption or power usage. In fact, with the new platform up to 9 hours of battery life in full spec notebooks is said to be possible.

After this we had a look at the Capella mobile technology using Nehalem architecture along with IGP on the CPU.

Lastly on the agenda intel celebrated the 1st birthday of Atom and demonstrated the new Nettops that are starting to make their way into the channels.
