Computex Taipei 2009: Continuing on with day 2, AMD holds its first press conference of 2009 Computex and they started with a dance performance from Taiwan's Monster cheerleading team with the Dragon theme to represent the Dragon platform AMD now uses.

Billy Wong, VP of Greater China sales opened the proceedings with a run down of AMD's 40th anniversary achievements and technologies that AMD has brought to market as well as emphasising the Future of Fusion.

Billy then turned the proceedings over to Rick Berman, product manager who got things started on AMD/ATI's products and also told us today we will see the first showing of a DX11 demo as well as touching on some of the first to market features of ATI graphics' including DX9 and GDDR3, 4 and 5 before any other graphics card maker.

John Wei, Senior Director of Advanced Technology marketing from TSMC joined Rick on stage to give a run down on the new 40nm process that they have developed for ATI's new GPU production. What was also impressive was TSMC delivered the first 40nm wafer supporting DX11.

Next we got to see a very brief video run of a DX11 character named Sebastian which was extremely high quality through what is called teselation.

We were also given a wireframe overview of teselation enabled with the Froblings. That's right, a frog/goblin creation from ATI; bye bye Ruby.

Our next slide gave us a bit of info on DX11's shader models.

Rick brought Steve Guggenheimer, corporate VP from Microsoft to show off Windows 7 DX11 capabilities as well as integrating shader processing in Windows with Stream processing to help accelerate the system by CPU/GPU co-processing.

AMD then moved along into its mobility segments. AMD isn't moving into Netbooks as we would hope, but they've tried to sway the vote towards thin and light notebooks.
