Hexus takes GIGABYTE Factory Tour

The folks over at Hexus managed to score a tour of one of the GIGABYTE factories and have lots of pictures to tell you all about it.

The facility in question is the Nan-ping factory located outsite Pingjhen City. Throughout the tour you can see what GIGABYTE does to take a blank PCB and convert it into the fully finished product that powers your PC.

The tour is heavy on the pictures and gives you a good idea of how GIGABYTE manages to bring millions of boards to the market every year.

Firstly is that Gigabyte seems very concerned about the quality of the products it produces. This is made evident by the fact that not only does it have two factories still in Taiwan producing its wares - a system that's inherently more expensive than the all-Chinese model - but that it utilises many in-process checks, from pre- to post-production.

Secondly is that it seems to show a reasonable duty of care for its staff. Where necessary all the staff seem to have been provided with appropriate safety equipment to protect against the heat from the products as they're exiting the numerous wave-soldering machines, as well as fume extractors for those re-working the solder joints during the inspection phase.
