AMD announce Adobe CS4 Plugin

By: (more) | Posted: Jun 17, 2009 1:53 pm

AMD has just announced a beta plug-in for Adobe Premiere's Pro CS4, snapping at Nvidia's heels in a race to proclaim one or the other king of video editing GPU acceleration.

AMD announce Adobe CS4 Plugin

AMD are predictably claiming the new plug in will change your life and "enhance the performance of a range of complex video editing tasks," which is rather a good thing, because it would be a bit of a useless release otherwise.

The plug in purportedly leverages ATI's Stream technology to pull power from both the CPU and GPU, bombastically claiming an 8X speed up in encoding performance.

Punters using AMD platforms like the desktop "Dragon" and ATI Radeon or ATI FirePro graphics cards will be the main beneficiaries of the team-up apparently, with AMD noting that ATI's catalyst drivers will provide the key to the promised stream acceleration.

For those planning on giving it a go, AMD says the plug in can be downloaded from here
