More Intel news tells us that Clarksfield speeds will start out at 1.6GHz. The entry level mobile CPU will also have a turbo mode that will allow one core to run at roughly 2.8GHz for non-SMP.SMY aware applications.

The new CPU will fit nicely into Intel's Calpella platform which at first will be aimed at high-end notebooks which will use a discrete graphics chip.

Other details on the 1.6GHz Clarksfield include 6MB of cache and a price tag of about $320.

Clarksfield is a mobile version of Lynnfield quad-core and they are both based on Nehalem 45nm architecture. In case of Clarksfield 1.6GHz, this one will be able to overclock one core to 2.8GHz, but its amount of cache will be limited from 8MB available for the 2GHz version to 6MB for the 1.6GHz version.

The launch time is Q3 2009, and when it comes to pricing, this CPU should enter the market between $316 and $530 and most likely it should be closer to $500.
