Minor Information comes out about ATi's Cypress

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Aug 24, 2009 2:26 pm

AMD/ATi has released some information that, of course, has made its way out to the Internet. The information is all about AMD's new Evergreen GPU line up. More importantly the information seems to reveal some detailed information about, well about nothing that is really interesting to the average gamer.

What you do get is a listing of supported technologies, and some naming information.

The Cypress GPU (which is the high-performance flavor) will end up being named the HD 5870 and HD 5850. This is pretty much what most people were expecting.

Also as expected we will see DX11 and OpenGL 3.0 support, ATI Stream Technology, GDDR5 (1GB), CrossFireX, Avivo HD, Dynamic Power Management, DVI, Display Port and HDMI, and PCI-e 2.0.

It would be nice if this information included some detailed specs on the GPU itself, but for that we will have to wait. General Availability should be in October in line with the launch of Windows 7
