Rumours of Intel-compatible x86 CPU from NVIDIA shot down

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: Nov 10, 2009 1:59 pm

There's been an interesting little rumour floating about recently that suggests NVIDIA has been looking at bringing out an Intel compatible x86 based processor to market which I'm sure Intel is feeling somewhat sour about, especially if true.

However, chances suddenly don't look so great, at least in the short term. NVIDIA's own CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has made a statement that clearly says "No" to there being any truth to the rumours circulating about.

He went on to say that NVIDIA's focus is toward visual and parallel computing, as well as "getting our GPUs into the lowest power platforms we can imagine and driving mobile computing with it"; Tegra being a prime example.
