Google's Chrome OS is very USB Flash friendly

By: (more) | Connectivity & Communications News | Posted: Nov 26, 2009 6:35 am

The folks at Engadget thought they'd try Google's Chrome OS on a standard USB thumb drive and quickly learned that it's a very rewarding move with lightening speeds across the board.

A video was taken which clocked the whole boot process (from power on to login), coming in at just 22 seconds. The platform used tp time was Dell's Vostro 90 netbook, a business-oriented model of the Mini 9.

If you minus the time it takes to run through the POST and BIOS startup phase, it's down to a mere 10 seconds. This is particularly impressive when you see it was just a run of the mill Samsung 4GB thumb drive running off the very limiting USB 2.0 interface.
