Asus Eee 1201N netbook hits Amazon for pre-order

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Dec 4, 2009 1:32 pm

When we first heard of the Asus Eee 1201N it was rumored to be hitting the market this month. I bet lots of netbook fans out there had visions of the 12.1-inch machine under the tree on Christmas morning. The Eee 1201N has now hit Amazon for pre-order.

The pre-order price is $499.99 but the caveat is that the machine is set to ship on January 15. That means you won't be getting the slick netbook under the tree after all. In case you missed the specs, the machine has an Intel Atom N330 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a 0.3MP webcam, and a free sleeve case. I'm not sure why they don't put a decent resolution web cam on these netbooks, how much more cost could a 1.3MP webcam really add. The machine weighs 3.2 pounds and measures 11.6 x 8.2 x 1.3 inches.
