Tecsol TPC-43C Medallion touch panel computer debuts

By: (more) | Trade Shows News | Posted: Dec 4, 2009 1:36 pm

I am all for saving power when we can and the upside to lower power requirements in much of our beloved tech gear means longer battery life. A company called Tecsol has unveiled a new "green tech" touchscreen computer called the TPC-43C Medallion.

The machine is for very specialized uses like building automation and factory human-machine interfaces, but it is very cool. I would love to have one running a home automation system in my house. The device has a 4.3-inch color TFT touchscreen with 65K colors.

The screen is LED backlit and the processor inside the slick computer is an ARM9 unit with 32kB of cache, 64MB of SDRAM, and 128MB of NAND flash. The machine gets power and connectivity from a single Ethernet cable. Linux is installed on the computer and it measures 7" high x 3.9" thick x 0.4" from the wall. It appears the machines have to be ordered in at least a quantity of ten for $425 each.
