Mobinnova unveils Beam smartbook

Smartbooks are supposed to be cheap and small computers that have the performance of a smartphone with larger screens in a form factor more like a netbook. When smartbooks were first described they were expected to be $200 or under. Some netbooks spied at CES were considerably more than $200 though.

 

 

Mobinnova has unveiled its new smartbook powered by NVIDIA Tegra called the Beam. The machine sports an ARM Cortex A9 CPU at 1GHz. The Tegra platform allows the small device to support full HD video. The screen is 8.9-inches and it has a resolution of 1024 x 600.

 

The operating system is Android and the device has integrated 3G connectivity for AT&T networks. The Beam has 512MB of RAM and 512MB of NAND flash for the OS. Storage is to a SSD ranging from 8-64GB and it has a SD card slot for storage expansion. Pricing and availability are unknown.
