Seagate commences shipments of Savvio 10K.4 Savvio HDDs

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Feb 10, 2010 5:51 am

Seagate has announced today that it has begun shipments of its new 10K.4 Savvio series hard disks which are 2.5-inch drives positioned at the Enterprise level.

These new drives come in both 450GB and 600GB capacities, running at 10,000RPM. They have 16MB of cache and can be purchased with either 6 Gbps SAS or 4 Gb/s Fiber Channel connectivity and are said to have an average latency of just 3ms.

Seagate has also given the option to pick up these drives with SED (self-encrypting) and PI (Protection Information) for enhanced data protection and integrity. Further to this, the drives come with an MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) of 2 million hours and they're backed by a five year warranty.

For further details, you can find Seagate's official announcement here.
