In attendance At MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2010 last week the folks over at Netbooknews.de managed to get some time to benchmark Acer's Aspire One 532G netbook which is the first to come out based on NVIDIA's next-gen ION 2 platform. What they learned from running it in Futuremark's now well obsolete 3DMark03 benchmark suite was pretty dissapointing :-

A mere 3049 3DMarks, placing it in an even lower performance catagory than many first generation Ion systems.

It's thought that this could be due to a lack of bandwidth in available PCI Express lanes from Intel's NM10 chipset. The Pine Trail Atom N450 CPU in this system makes use of the DMI bus to connect the CPU and chipset, however NVIDIA lacks licencing agreements which would have allowed them to use the same setup.

It could also be simply because of premature driver support or something else minor that can easily be sorted in time for the official launch. Hard to know at this stage.
