Microsoft implements new Windows 7 Activation update

By: (more) | Software News | Posted: Feb 25, 2010 4:41 am

In continuing efforts to minimize piracy of its latest operating system, Windows 7, Microsoft has just pushed out its latest Activation Technologies Update which verfies that the copy running on one's system is genuine and properly actived. Should it detect that the copy installed isn't legit, it'll certainly let you know about it with messages and popups galore.

The update is, however, voluntary, but it might not catch your eye with the main label through Windows Update simply stating "Update for Windows 7". You'll know which one it is when you look at the codename, in this case "KB971033".
