Panasonic Lumix G2 micro four thirds camera with touch screen debuts

By: (more) | Cameras News | Posted: Mar 8, 2010 5:24 pm

Most of the micro four thirds cameras on the market don't use a view finder. The ones that do simply put a small LCD in the eye piece for the viewfinder since micro four thirds cams lack the mirror box needed for a real viewfinder like you find on a DSLR.

Panasonic has unveiled a second new micro four thirds camera today called the G2 it claims to be the first with a touch-control movable LCD. The camera can shoot 720p HD video using the AVCHD Lite format. The touchscreen lets the user flick pictures around the screen in playback mode and can be touched to tell the camera where to focus when shooting pics.

The rear LCD is 3-inches and moves 180 degrees from side to side, and 270 degrees up and down. The sensor is a 12.1MP unit and the camera can shoot at 60 fps and has a number of automatic modes and features. The camera ships with a 14-42mm lens. Panasonic has not announced pricing or availability at this time.
