iPad sells 120K units day one of pre-orders according to estimates

By: (more) | Mobile Devices, Tablets & Phones News | Posted: Mar 15, 2010 3:36 pm

There were lots of people out there waiting for March 12 to get here so they could pre-order the iPad. With the day come and gone the only thing left for iPad hopefuls to do is count the days until April 3 and wonder how many iPads Apple sold.

According to initial estimates there were as many as 120,000 iPads sold Friday alone according to Investor Village. Other estimates claim as many as 50,000 sold in the first two hours of pre-order.

The sources claim that 69% of the pre-ordered devices were the WiFi only version with an even split between the different storage capacities. One big question remains, will Apple have enough units to ship them all by April 3.
