If you live in Canada, you will be among the first anywhere to have a chance to get your hands on the new Gateway EC14D01h ultraportable. The little machine is set to launch later this month in Canada for $579.99 CAD.

For that much money, you get an Intel Pentium ULV SU4100 processor running at 1.3GHz, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and an 11.6-inch screen. That smallish screen is LED backlit and sports a resolution of 1366 x 768.

Graphics are handled by Intel GMA 4500MHD and the machine has 4GB of RAM. Storage is to a 320GB HDD and Gateway builds a DVD drive into the small machine, which is uncommon in the ultraportable market today. Other features include a 6-cell battery, WiFi, webcam, USB ports, HDMI out, and a multi-gesture track pad.
