Blu-ray Disc Association announces format enhancements
The Blu-ray Disc Association is the major body behind Blu-ray that sets the standards and specifications for the format. The BDA has announced new enhancements are coming to the format in the next few months.

One of the enhancements is a new BDXL format that is targeted at commercial segments where archiving of large volumes of data is required. The BDXL discs will support 100GB and 128GB capacity discs with rewritable 100GB discs.
The other enhancement is a new IH-BD also known as intra-hybrid disc. The new disc has a BD-ROM layer that can only be read. It also has a BD-R layer that users can write their own data to as well.
