Western Digital unleashes new range of Velociraptor hard disks

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Apr 6, 2010 12:59 pm

Western Digital has just released a new generation of Velociraptor hard disks to market which we first touched on in a posting yesterday.

For the most part the new series hasn't changed drastically, but it does bring with it SATA 6Gbps support, 32MB cache and in the case of the top-end model, twice the capacity at 600GB.

WD claims a 15% performance gain from the new series of Velociraptors when compared to their previous gen line-up. We were hoping to have our full review online in time for launch today but unfortunately our sample arrived late and Chris is still hard at work in finishing it up; hopefully we'll have it ready before the day's out.

In the meantime, you can find several other sites with full reviews of the new series Velociraptors via the below links :-
