Seagate teams up with Paramount - pre-loads movies on Freeagent Go

By: (more) | HT & Movies News | Posted: Apr 12, 2010 2:40 pm

Seagate has struck a deal with Paramount in efforts to sweeten up sales of it's 500GB FreeAgent Go series 2.5-inch portable hard drive in the U.S. market.

The new deal includes a bunch of pre-loaded Paramount movies on the hard drive; no less than 21 in fact. The full list of movie titles includes :-

- Star Trek (2009)
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- GI Joe
- Shooter
- The Hunt for Red October
- The Italian Job (2003)
- Ghost
- Patriot Games
- Beowulf
- Enemy at the Gates
- The Spiderwick Chronicles
- The Love Guru
- Coach Carter
- The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
- Nacho Libre
- Jackass 2.5
- A Plumm Summer
- Carriers
- Dance Flick
- Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
- Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

But it's not as rosey as it first sounds. These are DRM-loaded and apart from Star Trek 2009 which is free, the other 20 movies require a separate purchase of a license key through http://seagate.paramountshop.com before the films can be unlocked for viewing. The license key will set you back between $9.99 and $14.99 per movie. If you unlock all of the titles it'll eat up around 50GB, so there's plenty left over for other storage needs.
