Samsung first to bring 20-nm NAND Flash to Secure Digital market

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Apr 19, 2010 10:20 am

Samsumg has just reached a new milestone, releasing the worlds first 20-nm NAND flash suited to embedded memory solutions and SD memory cards ranging from 4 to 64GB.

Along with the benefits of 20nm (cheaper to make and better densities), Samsung claim their new 20-nm class NAND flash memory is more reliable and around 30% faster than its 30-nm MLC chips that are found in existing 8GB and higher SD cards.

This should result in us seeing cheaper class 10 SD cards with read and write rates of 20Mbps/10Mbps for the market a little later this year.
