Garmin unveils nuvi 3700 PND

By: (more) | GPS & Location News | Posted: Apr 19, 2010 4:04 pm

Garmin has unveiled a new GPS device that doesn't look like the typical GPS unit. Rather than being a boxy rectangle, the new nuvi 3700 series looks more like an iPod touch crammed inside a windshield mount.

The 3700 is claimed to be the thinnest PND around at less than 9mm thick. The device has a touchscreen and users can zoom in on maps using pinch and tap gestured. The screen is 4.3-inches wide and can be used in portrait or landscape modes.

The device has a customizable wake up phrase that will activate the voice navigation. Maps are offered in 2D and 3D modes. The device has features you expect on a high-end GPS unit like lane assist, traffic and more. Pricing and availability are unknown.
