Buffalo brings back slot-in mechanism for portable DVD writer
Japanese storage and peripherals maker Buffalo has just released a slick looking portable DVD writer for on-the-go use that uses the convenient slot-in mechanism that we don't see used enough in optical drives nowadays.
The DVSM-PS58U2/S-BK is of a very slim, compact nature and uses a single wired USB 2.0 cable for connectivity (that can give both power and data singularly).
Measurements of this tidy little piano-black finished unit come in at 142 x 137 mm, being just 20mm thick and weighing a mere 340g.
As for specifications, it can write at up to 8x for DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD+RW and 6x for double-layer DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD-RW. it also has 5x DVD-RAM write support and up to 24x write for CD-R/CD-RW discs.
Buffalo will release the unit in the Japanese market first up around mid-May at ¥11,500 (around US $120).
