Seagate planning to release 3TB Constellation ES drives later this year
The boundaries of high capacity desktop storage are still being pushed and it's been mentioned that Seagate has found a way to cram 3TB into a 3.5-inch drive which it plans to release under its Constellation ES series later this year.

The Constellation ES series is enterprise level and thus the upcoming 3TB monster will use an SAS 6Gbps interface. It is likely it will spin at 7,200RPM and inevitable that 3TB desktop oriented drives with the SATA 6Gbps will arrive soon after.
Aside from even bigger storage options on tap, the other benefit of adding an even larger drive to market will mean lower pricing on 2TB models.
